Deep water free diving exposes its practitioners to a form of narcosis, which induces several symptoms, among which a feeling of euphoria and levity that earned this phenomenon its nickname of “raptures of the deep”. The short film relates the interior journey of Guillaume Néry, the apnea world champion, during one of his deep water dives. It draws its inspiration from his physical experience and the narrative of his hallucinations.
“A movie is carried by its director but also, most importantly, by its team. Narcose was born thanks to the voluntary work of filming professionals who believed in the project, and in the donations made by Internet users through the ULULE crowd funding platform.”
The shooting began at the beginning of October 2011 with the wedding scene, which was the most difficult. Four months later, the scene where I am pregnant was shot, 10 days before the birth of our daughter. The rest was filmed in Nice, the first week of August 2012. The movie was finished 6 months later, by the time the editing, colour grading, special effects, original music, sound effects and mix were completed.
