The artist Chéri Samba is joining The Skateroom family! Cutting edge contemporary art brand, is delighted to announce its new collaboration with the Congolese contemporary artist Chéri Samba .

The Skateroom invites contemporary artists to create limited edition artworks on skateboards. In doing so, The Skateroom supports art institutions and non-profit social projects that empower children through art and skateboarding.

For this new limited edition The Skateroom produced a limited edition of 150 of Chéri Samba  major art piece “J’aime la couleur” on a set of 6 skateboards. This new limited edition with the father of African contemporary art will be on show for the great new exhibition Art/Afrique, le nouvel atelier at Fondation Louis Vuitton from April 26th to August 28th 2017.

Painted in 2003, “J’aime la Couleur” is part of the Fondation Louis Vuitton collection. In this highly symbolic painting Chéri Samba represents himself with a brush in the mouth unrolling his own portrait as a spiral with the immensity of the blue sky as a background.

The limited edition will be available for purchase at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris and on The Skateroom’s online store from July 1st 2017. The artwork is available in a limited edition run of 150 hand screen printed 7-ply Canadian Maple skateboards. The 25 first editions will come with hand signed certificates by the artist and sold at $2000The remaining 125 editions have the signature of the artist printed at the back of the boards and are sold at $950.
